Call for Subs! (And a Warm Welcome Back)

Hello readers, writers, and Sheridan students! We’re so excited to officially welcome you back to the B222 Journal for fall 2025. 

ICYMI, our submission deadline has just been extended to October 10th at 11:59pm. We wanted to take some time to answer your FAQs and help you get ready for our fall issue. We’ve got some bookish events coming up on campus, so stay tuned!

Upcoming Events & Deadlines

• Friday October 10th - Submissions to issue #6 due at 11:59pm

• Week of October 27th - Buttons ‘n’ Bookmark making workshop (exact times and locations will be updated soon!)

• Month of October (ongoing) - Collecting books for the bi-annual B222 Book Drive. Look for the red collection bins in the campus libraries. We accept all genres including novels, plays, poetry, anthologies, etc. 

Answering your B222 FAQs

Can I submit multiple pieces? 

Yes! You can make one submission per genre (prose, poetry, script, etc.). We ask that prose pieces be max 1000 words in length and double spaced, and scripts be max six pages in length. A poetry submission may include more than one poem, but the total combined length should be max three pages. We ask that you use Times New Roman font (size 12) and upload a Word (.docx) or PDF (.pdf) format. If you’re submitting multiple genres, submit each as an individual document. 

What is the theme for issue #6? 

This is a trick question- there is no theme! We want to completely open up our submissions to students’ best work, whatever their topics of interest may be. 

Can I submit visual or performance art?

Yes! We accept digital art, or photos of physical art mediums as .jpg, .png, or .tiff files. Make sure it has a minimum resolution of 300 dpi to ensure it will look clean and crisp in print. We also accept audio/music files less than twenty minutes in length. Submit as a Youtube or Vimeo link. 

Can people outside of Sheridan submit?

No, B222 journal is a student-run publication that exclusively accepts the works of students who are currently enrolled at Sheridan College. We do accept pieces from students across all three campuses. 

Can I submit fanfiction?

No, B222 only accepts original work from students that has not yet been published elsewhere.
