B222 Updates: Issue #7 Deadline and Upcoming Events!

Hello readers, writers, and Sheridan students!

Welcome back for another round of updates from the B222 Journal team. As we approach the half way mark for this semester, we have been cooking up some fun events leading up to the launch of issue #7. But, before you pull out your calendars, we have some news about our open submission and search for our next managing editor.

Issue #7 Submissions

In Week 4, we announced the extension of our submission deadline to February 7th, 2026 (11:59 PM). Our team is very impressed by all the new submissions rolling in. We are currently working hard behind the scenes discussing and curating this issue for you all.

As the new deadline approaches (literally, you only have 48 hours left), we want to encourage you to submit your work to be published. Similar to our previous issue, it is an open theme. We want to see your vision and your most authentic voice shine through.

Please note, we've also changed some our submission guidelines going forward. Find the full details below, as well as on the submissions page of our website.

*As always, B222 Journal does not accept submissions that promote harmful or hateful content, fan art or fan fiction of any kind, nor any work that has been generated by or with the assistance of AI.

Help Wanted! B222 Journal needs you!

For the Fall 2026/Winter 2027 term, B222 Journal is looking for the next Managing Editor who will lead our new team student volunteers to publish our bi-annual journal. We are extending the application deadline to February 11th, 2026 (11:59 PM), so you have more time to polish up those resumes and cover letters.

Before applying, please note candidates must fulfill the base criteria below to be considered for the role:

• A domestic student

• Must be Work Study eligible

• Cannot be in their fourth year of study (i.e. in their co-op semester at the time of completing this internship)

Let's get crafty! Buttons n' Bookmarks is back!

Last fall, we are so impressed by the turn out and participation of students for this event that we are bringing it back. This semester we will be holding two crafting sessions. The event is open for all students who want to hang out and chat with our team in between classes. Being so close to Valentines day, maybe this can be a good opportunity for you to make buttons and bookmarks for the ones you love. Please come and get crafty with us!

Things to look forward to...

If you are eager to get rid of some books and free up your shelf space, B222 Journal is running a Book Drive from Week 8 to Week 10. You can drop off the books into the red bins located at the HMC and Trafalgar Library.

Following the Book Drive, we will have our Spring Book Sale fundraiser. If you are looking for new books to read, we are selling used books to raise funds for our journal. Please note, stocks are limited and if you see a book you like, be fast to snatch it up before someone else does!
